Today’s guest is in a position that I know a lot of my readers want to hear about: script coordinator and writers’ PA.
Eddie Quintana tells us about his journey from office PA on films to script coordinator on TV series. Along the way, Eddie touches on such topics as stocking the fridge, finishing The Wire, and writing what you want to write.
A note to readers who may not be familiar: the shows the Eddie discusses are rather small, and only have two people assisting the writers’ room– the writers’ PA and the script coordinator. On larger shows, there is a third position, called “writers’ assistant.”
On those shows, the writers’ assistant is the one who typically sits in the room with the writers, while the script coordinator is responsible for actually getting the script out. Naturally, these jobs can overlap and blend together, to the point where it may not be clear to an outside observer who officially has which job.
Since the time we recorded this episode, Eddie has been staffed on a television series! Congratulations to him. Look for KC Undercover on the Disney Channel this January. (My readership overlaps with Disney’s demographic, right?)
The producer of today’s episode was Chris Henry, who also wrote the theme.
