Here are some important facts about the SSC Ultimate Aero: it costs $654,400. With a top speed of 257mph, it was the fastest street legal car for three years in a row. Only twenty-five have even been made.
Why am I telling you all this? Because it made a very special guest appearance on my show last week.
One of our guest characters was a Very Rich Man. And what better way to demonstrate his wealth than by having him drive up in a car that cost about a third of an episode?
Now, our transportation coordinator spends most of his day stuck in his office. Reasonably so– a lot of paperwork goes along with all those production vehicles, passenger vans, and picture cars. Most of the actual driving is done by the rank and file teamsters.
But on the day we filmed the Aero, our coordinator bravely, and selflessly, volunteered to get behind the wheel, just so his guys could take a little break from driving, if only for one scene.
